In the 50's, bold and exciting was the rage among many homesteaders. Courageous use of bright colors such as orange and yellow was common. As well, many wall prints of the time were large, busy, and used in copious amounts. To complement these loud statements, lighting, wall hangings, and accessories were much more subtle and tended to be used in moderation. It would not have been uncommon to see a den covered floor to ceiling, wall to wall in textured leopard print wall paper. To complement this pattern, many throw pillows and lampshades were in simple solids of coordinating colors.
Wallpaper has made quite the comeback in the last few years. We all remember how the last couple of years have been about doing wallpaper as an accent wall to add a little pizzazz to your space. Now trends are shifting back to covering multiple walls. Yes, that's right, multiple walls. It's all coming back. We're seeing entire rooms being done in wallpaper and even matching fabric with the wallpaper.
