Bold patterns on wallpaper is what rejuvenated the trend a few years ago. Bold was in and we had to find ways to integrate it into our designs. Wallpaper was the obvious choice! The trend forecast however shows that we'll be utilizing wallpaper in a different way in the coming years. Bold patterns are in but no longer the hottest of the trends. The trends have now shifted to textures. Mixing textures within a space is the new thing! It requires minimal effort and is easy to put up in a wall covering format. The best part of all of this is that the chosen textured paper will stay in style longer that its bold counterpart as it's more subtle.
You can get them so that the paper won't wrinkle or stretch when hanging them, and this makes life much easier. Offered less often is the self-adhesive kind. These are the easiest to hang of all, and the process is altogether a lot less fussy than the 'paste it yourself' variety. On this point, the final thing to consider is the size of strips that the image is printed on; some manufacturers print them on poster sized panels while others will print the whole image on one massive sheet. My personal favourite is the type that arrive as rolls of pre-cut lengths, a little wider than regular wallpaper. Coming with a plan for which order to hang the panels in, these are the nicest to instal.
Today, many homeowners find themselves decorating in a manner that seems to be in the opposite direction. Most modern decorators stay toward a more conservative style. In terms of creating the vintage look, many decorating enthusiasts look to use these flashy patterns to compliment much simpler themes. For instance, when using leopard print wallpaper, today's home decorator would more than likely opt to cover one wall in the print; while painting the other walls of the room in a solid color that coordinates.
A new design style begins with the background. Having a pattern created with black and white will break up a room that is filled with solid colors or a monochromatic scheme. Have fun with pattern on the walls can be done in ways that wouldn't work on a specific piece of furniture. You can have your furniture blend into the wallpaper by sticking to black and white pieces. Or your furniture can stand out away from the wall with the use of color.
